wireless operators monument
VWOA members maintain the monument in New York's Battery Park commemorating those radio and wireless operators who have perished with their ships. Currently the monument is being restored and will be reinstalled in a prominent location.

For 90 years, the VWOA presented awards to individuals for their contribution to communications. Recipients, both men and women, have included famous inventors, technology innovators, teachers, historians, military officers, and radio operators who have participated in sea rescues. .

VWOA members have assembled an extensive permanent display on the history of maritime radio communications. It is housed at the InfoAge Science and History Museum, 2201 Marconi Road, Wall, NJ
ambrose lightship
The VWOA assembled and equipped the radio room on the lightship AMBROSE in New York's South Street Seaport. For many years members volunteered as "Sparks" demonstrating the radio equipment. Today members of the VWOA operate the club amateur radioi statioon with the callsign W2AQ for special on-the-air events.
